A former police officer and commander with the Gary Police Department was arrested and indicted Thursday on federal charges for allegedly coercing a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct. The officer,

James Bond, 52, could get a minimum sentence of 15 years if convicted. He's accused of preying on a participant in a summer youth employment program in Gary, Indiana. Bond joined the city's police department in 2001.

Federal prosecutors in northwest Indiana say a former Gary police officer targeted a teenager in a summer employment program, and tried to get them to send him sexually explicit images.
