Coldplay singer Chris Martin and Ed Sheeran played a surprise 4-song mini-set of greatest hits at Saturday's 2024 Global Citizen Festival in New York.

At the 2024 Global Citizen Festival, held at NYC, and hosted by Hugh Jackman, major stars like Doja Cat, Chris Martin, and Ed Sheeran united to raise awareness for poverty and environmental issues.

For the second year in a row, rain muddied the festivities at the Global Citizen Festival on the Great Lawn of Central Park on Saturday.

The duo played four songs together, switching between Coldplay and Sheeran hits: They opened with a rendition of Coldplay’s “Yellow” with Sheeran on lead vocals, then turned Sheeran’s “Shape of You” into a duet.

Rainy New York weather did not stop Global Citizen Festival 2024 in Central Park on Saturday. Chris Martin of Coldplay was previously announced as only a speaker for the annual benefit event, but he wound up playing a surprise set alongside unannounced guest Ed Sheeran.
