London’s famed Oxford Street could finally be pedestrianized, according to new plans announced by city mayor Sadiq Khan on Tuesday, following years of debate about how to revitalize the area.

Plans to pedestrianise part of London's Oxford Street have been announced by the capital's mayor Sadiq Khan. Mr Khan said "urgent action" is needed to regenerate the famous high street, which was has been affected by a shift to online shopping and the Covid-19 pandemic.

After decades of rumours and blocked attempts at making London 's Oxford Street a car-free zone, it looks like the plans could finally be going ahead.
