Vodafone Idea has relied on its existing long-term partners, Nokia and Ericsson for its capacity expansion while also onboarding a new partner in the form of Samsung.

Vodafone Idea Ltd. has signed a $3.6 billion contract with companies including Nokia Oyj for the supply of equipment to the Indian phone carrier for a planned upgrade of its network.

India's Vodafone Idea on Sunday concluded a $3.6 billion deal with mobile and network manufacturers Nokia, Ericsson and Samsung for supply of equipment over a period of three years, it said in a statement to exchanges.

Vodafone Idea stated that supplies under the new contract will start coming next quarter, emphasising that expanding 4G coverage continues to be its highest priority.

The company has continued with its existing long-term partners, Nokia and Ericsson, and has onboarded Samsung as a new partner.

Vodafone Idea has finalized a $3.6 billion or ₹30,000 crore deal with Nokia, Ericsson, and Samsung for network equipment as part of a $6.6 billion capex plan, the company informed the exchanges today.
